Practical Nurse – Outpatient Department (OPD)

About the role

The Practical Nurse works in the Outpatient Department (OPD) under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, providing patient‑centered care in accordance with the Nursing Scope of Practice and the Abu Dhabi Nurses Code of Conduct.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and implement nursing care plans for OPD patients while following RN guidance.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including meal distribution and personal hygiene.
• Monitor vital signs, record observations, and promptly report any significant changes to the RN.
• Respond to emergencies according to hospital policies.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records.
• Prepare and stock examination rooms, ensuring supplies are available for each patient encounter.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver efficient, safe, and equitable care.
• Provide patients and families with clear information, resources, and follow‑up instructions.

Required profile

• Qualified Practical Nurse with a valid license to practice in Abu Dhabi.
• Ability to work under RN supervision and take responsibility for personal actions.
• Strong communication skills and a patient‑focused attitude.
• Commitment to the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
• Competence in measuring and interpreting vital signs.
• Basic clinical nursing procedures relevant to outpatient care.
