Principal Coastal Engineer

About the role

Jacobs is seeking a Principal Coastal Engineer to lead the design and delivery of coastal and maritime infrastructure projects across the Middle East. You will be responsible for shaping technical solutions, preparing tender documentation, and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and coordinate coastal structures such as breakwaters, revetments and scour protection.
• Develop design reports, technical proposals and detailed design drawings.
• Prepare and evaluate tender documents and conduct tender assessments.
• Perform numerical modelling of wave transformation, hydrodynamics and sediment transport.
• Carry out vessel navigation and mooring studies.
• Monitor construction progress against programme and take corrective actions to meet deadlines.

Required profile

• Degree from a recognised university in a relevant engineering discipline.
• 12‑15 years of experience operating as a coastal engineer.
• Experience working in the Middle East is advantageous.
• Qualified member of a recognised professional institution (e.g., IMarEST, APM, ICE, RICS, CIOB, AIA, RIBA).
