Principal Embedded Software Engineer – Avionics

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Embedded Software Engineer to lead the development of safety‑critical avionics software in Abu Dhabi. The role involves designing, implementing and maintaining high‑reliability embedded solutions for flight‑control and aerospace systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain embedded software for avionics, flight control and related aerospace applications.
• Implement real‑time, low‑latency code that meets deterministic performance and safety standards.
• Collaborate with system engineers to translate control algorithms and system requirements into efficient embedded code.
• Integrate software with hardware, conduct rigorous testing and ensure compliance with DO‑178C and DO‑254.
• Optimize code for memory usage, power consumption and execution speed while following coding standards.
• Produce and maintain detailed documentation, including design specifications, test plans and results.
• Work closely with hardware, systems and QA teams to guarantee seamless integration.
• Troubleshoot defects, perform structured debugging and continuously adopt emerging technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field (Master’s/PhD preferred).
• Minimum 12 years of experience in embedded software development, preferably in aerospace or safety‑critical domains.
• Strong hands‑on expertise in C and C++ for embedded systems.
• Deep knowledge of ARM, STM32 and other microcontroller architectures and low‑level hardware interfacing.
• Proven ability to work under pressure in mission‑critical environments and drive solutions from concept to deployment.
