Principal Engineer – Mechanical (Static)

About the role

Petrofac is seeking a senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the static design discipline for large‑scale oil and gas projects in the UAE. The role combines technical leadership, team management and close interaction with clients, suppliers and internal disciplines to deliver safe, compliant and cost‑effective solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of engineers and designers through concept to detailed design, ensuring compliance with tender specifications, project schedules and budget.
• Review and manage technical bid evaluations, supplier drawings and equipment specifications, coordinating with procurement, client and construction teams.
• Develop and maintain project documentation such as the Technical Document Register, Mechanical Data Sheets, material take‑offs and inter‑discipline check packages.
• Coordinate with project planning to schedule engineering activities, monitor manpower, cost performance and ensure timely delivery of deliverables.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 15 years of EPC experience in the oil & gas sector (ADNOC project experience preferred).
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and manage large‑scale static equipment design, including tanks, pressure vessels and heat exchangers.
