Principal Engineer – Power Electronics

About the role

AL TARIQ is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the design and integration of advanced power‑electronics hardware for high‑performance autonomous systems. You will shape technical road‑maps, drive innovation, and ensure seamless hardware‑software interaction across complex electromechanical platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement technical road‑maps for power‑electronics and hardware design.
• Lead the design, optimisation and validation of DC‑DC converters, inverters and motor‑drive systems.
• Oversee circuit design and PCB development using Altium Designer, ensuring signal integrity, thermal efficiency and manufacturability.
• Utilise MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS and LTspice for system modelling, simulation and analysis.
• Drive prototyping, hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) testing and field validation of power systems.
• Integrate power electronics into larger platforms, addressing EMC, thermal performance and reliability.
• Develop advanced control algorithms such as Field‑Oriented Control (FOC) and Direct Torque Control (DTC) for electric drives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or a related field (PhD a plus).
• 15+ years of experience in power‑electronics design, system integration and validation for high‑performance applications.
• Proven track record designing converters, inverters and motor‑drive systems for complex platforms.
