Principal Engineer – Systems Integration

About the role

The Principal Engineer – Systems Integration will lead the integration of complex defence communications and command‑and‑control (C2) systems across air, land, maritime and joint environments. This senior position requires ownership of interface definition, testing, and operational readiness to ensure seamless system performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead system integration activities for advanced Defence Communications and C2 solutions.
• Integrate hardware, software, networks and infrastructure across multiple domains.
• Define and manage system interfaces, interoperability and interface control documentation.
• Conduct integration testing, troubleshoot defects and support operational readiness.
• Support platform integration trials, field deployments, customer demonstrations and interoperability testing.
• Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, networking, customers, suppliers and platform teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electronics, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in systems engineering or system integration within defence, aerospace, security or other mission‑critical environments.
• Proven track record of integrating complex hardware, software and distributed systems.
• Experience with platform integration, operational environments and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Required skills

• Defence communications, C2/C4ISR, tactical data links and mission systems.
• Networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP), routing, messaging and OSI‑layer communications.
• System interoperability, interface management and systems‑of‑systems integration.
• MATLAB and Simulink for network/system testing.
• Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), simulation environments, secure communications and relevant defence standards.
