Principal Engineer – Water

About the role

WSP is seeking a seasoned Principal Engineer – Water to lead the design and delivery of large‑scale water, hydrology and wet utilities projects across Dubai and Sharjah. This senior technical position sits within the Transport & Infrastructure business unit and focuses on sustainable, innovative water infrastructure solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end design and delivery of potable water, stormwater drainage, foul sewerage, TSE/irrigation networks and hydrological systems.
• Provide technical leadership in hydrology, hydraulic modelling and wet utilities design, ensuring compliance with local authority standards.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams and coordinate integration with civil, structural, environmental and transport disciplines.
• Produce high‑quality design reports, modelling outputs, specifications, drawings, tender documents and engineering studies.
• Engage with clients and authorities, presenting solutions, handling submissions and securing approvals.
• Mentor junior engineers and support project managers in planning, budgeting and risk management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Water or Environmental Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 10–12+ years of experience in water infrastructure design, preferably within an engineering consultancy.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale water or wet utilities projects in the UAE, with strong knowledge of local authority standards.
• Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary teams on complex infrastructure programmes.
