Principal Structural Drafter

About the role

The Principal Structural Drafter leads a team of drafters, ensuring high‑quality structural drawings for complex projects. Working within established drafting procedures, the role combines autonomous technical work with coordination and continuous improvement of drafting processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of structural drafters across fabrication, EPC, and installation phases.
• Develop and execute drafting plans that comply with industry codes, project specifications, and quality standards.
• Assist the drafting supervisor in preparing work schedules and estimating work‑hour requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to translate project requirements into accurate structural documentation.
• Review project specifications and design calculations to produce detailed drawings, including plans, sections, elevations, and details.
• Utilize CAD software (AutoCAD, Tekla, Navisworks, Revit) to create 3D models, shop drawings, and bills of materials.
• Perform quality checks on drawings and ensure adherence to standards throughout the drafting process.
• Resolve technical issues, provide on‑site engineering support, and suggest design modifications as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years (120 months) of experience in structural drafting within the construction/EPCI sector.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor drafting teams.
• Strong understanding of fabrication principles, materials, and construction techniques.
