Principal Systems Engineer – Actuation

About the role

The Systems Engineer – Actuation is responsible for designing, developing, integrating and validating actuation systems for Edge's unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platforms. The role ensures that flight‑control, landing‑gear, payload and other subsystem actuators meet performance, safety and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define and manage system‑level requirements and performance specifications for actuation systems (flight control, landing gear, payload deployment).
• Develop system safety analyses, maintain interface control documents, requirement traceability matrices and system architecture diagrams.
• Prepare design evidence documents, including Design Development Packages (DDP) and ensure design life‑cycle management per DO‑4754.
• Collaborate closely with control‑systems, avionics, airframe and software teams to achieve optimal actuator integration.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering.
• Master’s degree or specialization in actuation systems, flight controls or robotics is preferred.
