Procurement Engineer – Construction Materials

About the role

Abu Alnaga Contracting is seeking an experienced Procurement Engineer to lead the sourcing of construction materials, equipment and subcontracted services for its building projects in Dubai. The role ensures that all purchases meet project specifications, quality standards, budgets and delivery schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end procurement for materials, tools, equipment and subcontracted services.
• Review drawings, specifications, BOQs and procurement schedules to define purchasing needs.
• Prepare and issue RFQs to approved and potential suppliers.
• Evaluate suppliers on price, quality, technical compliance, delivery time and payment terms.
• Compile technical and commercial quotations and create comparison statements for management approval.
• Coordinate with consultants, project managers, site engineers and quantity surveyors on material requirements.
• Verify that proposed items comply with project specifications and approved submittals.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranties and other commercial conditions.
• Issue purchase orders, monitor delivery schedules and ensure timely receipt of materials on site.
• Work with logistics and site teams for unloading, storage and inspection of deliveries.
• Handle delayed, damaged or non‑conforming items and initiate corrective actions.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date supplier database and develop new sources as needed.
• Assess supplier performance on quality, cost, reliability and delivery.
• Support commercial and project teams in identifying cost‑saving and value‑engineering opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement within building construction projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of construction materials and equipment.
• Excellent ability to interpret drawings, specifications and BOQs.
• Effective communication and coordination with internal project teams and external suppliers.
• Detail‑oriented with a focus on compliance and quality assurance.
