Quality Inspector – Coating, Insulation & Refractory

About the role

Petrofac is seeking a Quality Inspector (Inspector I) to oversee coating, insulation and refractory works on its Abu Dhabi site. The role ensures all activities meet applicable standards, specifications and safety requirements while maintaining material traceability and quality control.

Key responsibilities

• Verify weather conditions are suitable for coating operations in line with standards.
• Ensure compliance with manufacturers’ instructions and MSDS for handling and storage of coating materials.
• Maintain material data sheets and traceability, confirming correct material usage.
• Monitor contractor performance, confirming applicators hold valid certifications and equipment is serviceable.
• Ensure inspection and test equipment is calibrated and personnel are trained in its use.
• Protect weld areas, flanges, instruments before blasting and verify surface preparation meets blast profile requirements.
• Record surface cleanliness and profile at key stages: before preparation, after preparation, before coating, and between coats.
• Monitor wet film thickness during application and control dry film thickness and recoating intervals.
• Conduct visual inspections after each coat and oversee specified non‑destructive and destructive testing.
• Verify removal or over‑coating of identification marks and ensure proper curing before final inspection.

Required profile

• Experience in quality inspection of coating, insulation or refractory works on industrial sites.
• Familiarity with relevant standards, specifications and MSDS requirements.
• Ability to monitor contractor performance and ensure equipment calibration.
• Attention to detail in surface preparation, film thickness measurement and visual inspection.
