R&D Engineer – Product Development

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic R&D/Product Development Engineer to drive innovation and enhancement of our busbar trunking product line. The role involves designing, developing and supporting new products to meet market demands and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define product specifications, features and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards such as IEC61439 & UL857.
• Create 3D models and 2D drawings using Creo, SolidWorks or equivalent, applying GD&T.
• Collaborate with Offering Management, Marketing, Sales and external suppliers to source components and materials.
• Manage the NPDI process, complete documentation, conduct DFMEA and maintain engineering change records.
• Build prototypes, perform product risk assessments and support product launch activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of design experience in NPDI/NPD/NPI or switchgear/busbar industry, or 5–7 years in automotive/manufacturing.
• Experience with power distribution, data‑center applications and designing welded steel or molded plastic assemblies.

Required skills

• Proficiency in 3D modelling with Creo or SolidWorks.
• 2D drafting, first‑angle and third‑angle projection, and GD&T.
• Use of PLM and product lifecycle management tools.
• Familiarity with DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans and SOP preparation.
• Competence with Microsoft Office, Smartsheet and PDM/PD Cloud systems.
