Research and Development Specialist

About the role

The Emirates Research and Development Council (ERDC) is seeking a full‑time Research and Development Specialist to join its team in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on identifying, designing and evaluating R&D projects that align with UAE national priorities and the council’s R&D Tax Credit framework.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct rigorous research and analysis of proposed R&D initiatives.
• Review technical documentation and assess projects against ERDC’s eligibility criteria and UAE R&D Tax Credit requirements.
• Prepare clear reports and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage external partners to clarify guidelines and promote best practices.
• Contribute to policy inputs, process improvements and knowledge‑sharing activities that strengthen the UAE’s R&D ecosystem.

Required profile

• Strong background in research and development, with experience designing, executing and evaluating R&D projects.
• Advanced analytical abilities to interpret complex data and assess technical proposals.
• Excellent communication skills for report writing and stakeholder engagement.
• Solid research capabilities and, where relevant, laboratory skills related to the candidate’s scientific or technical discipline.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in science, engineering, technology or a related field.
• Experience with innovation policy, R&D funding programs or tax credit schemes is an advantage.
• Attention to detail, collaborative mindset and commitment to ethical research practices.
