Research Assistant – Live Performance & Creative Practice

About the role

NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking a Kawader Research Assistant Fellow to support live performance, creative practice and interdisciplinary artistic research within the Arts and Humanities division. Working under Professor Joanna Settle, the fellow will contribute to ongoing projects, develop independent artistic work, and assist with course development.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, coordination and management of creative projects and research initiatives.
• Conduct topical and material research, including library, online, and field investigations.
• Prepare and submit research applications, grant proposals, and project documentation.
• Manage project budgets, reimbursements, and track expenditures using spreadsheets.
• Maintain scheduling, correspondence and Professor Settle’s inter‑project Google calendar.
• Oversee undergraduate and graduate research assistants and facilitate their work.

Required profile

• BA or BFA in an arts practice field or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated advanced abilities as a visual and/or performance artist.
• Strong organizational, communication and collaborative skills.
• Ability to work calmly and consistently in a collaborative environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Mac computers.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Excel for data management and budget tracking.
• Competence in Microsoft Word for document preparation.
