Risk Officer – Alternative Asset Management

About the role

The Risk Officer will design, implement and maintain a robust risk management framework for regulated financial services, focusing on alternative asset managers and Category 3C entities. Acting as a key second‑line defence, you will provide independent oversight of investment, market, liquidity, operational, regulatory, conduct, technology/cyber and third‑party risks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and embed risk policies, procedures and controls across the business.
• Identify, assess, monitor and report on all material risks.
• Collaborate with senior management, compliance and investment teams to ensure risk‑aware decision‑making.
• Prepare and present risk reports for the Board and senior executives.
• Engage with regulators (ADGM/FSRA, DIFC/DFSA) and ensure compliance with regulatory expectations.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of risk management experience in financial services, preferably within alternative asset or investment management.
• Demonstrated experience with Category 3C regulated entities.
• Strong knowledge of ADGM/FSRA regulatory framework; DIFC/DFSA experience is a plus.
• Degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management or related field; professional qualifications (FRM, PRM, CFA) preferred.
