About the role
The Technology Innovation Institute (TII) is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to join its Robotics Research Center in Dubai. The role focuses on developing and deploying large language and vision‑language models, as well as building autonomous agentic systems that can reason, plan, and interact with tools.
Key responsibilities
- Design, train, fine‑tune, and optimise LLMs and VLMs for production use.
- Develop autonomous agent frameworks that support multi‑step reasoning, memory, and tool integration.
- Build low‑latency inference pipelines using DeepSpeed, vLLM, TensorRT or ONNX Runtime.
- Implement distributed training, model parallelism and edge‑device optimisation.
- Stay current with research advances in multimodal AI and autonomous agents.
Required profile
- Strong research and engineering background in AI/ML, especially transformers and multimodal architectures.
- Hands‑on experience with fine‑tuning techniques (LoRA, QLoRA), quantisation, distillation and model evaluation.
- Familiarity with reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF/RLAIF) and alignment methods.
- Proven ability to translate research prototypes into scalable production systems.
