Senior Communications Engineer

About the role

The Communication Senior Engineer is the lead technical authority responsible for ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and lifecycle integrity of Dubai Metro's operational assets. The role provides expert engineering guidance, drives complex asset improvement programs, leads technical investigations, and sponsors change‑management activities across communication systems and their interfacing assets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and drive engineering strategies aligned with long‑term organisational objectives and international rail standards.
• Assess, recommend, and implement asset improvement programmes based on RAMS, FRACAS, FRB and ISO 55001/55000 principles.
• Lead technical investigations of communication system assets and related interfaces such as power supply and ATC.
• Provide technical governance for modifications, refurbishments and system upgrades, ensuring compliance with railway safety standards.
• Drive obsolescence‑management strategies to sustain long‑term asset performance and cost‑effective lifecycle management.
• Support maintenance strategy optimisation through RCM, FMEA and data‑driven asset management techniques.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Communications, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in a system‑engineering role for communication systems and related interfaces within a rail or similar environment.
• Strong stakeholder‑management experience, including interaction with maintenance teams, operations, IT, PMO and engineering projects.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and interpret large data sets, present findings to senior stakeholders and work independently on competing priorities.
