Senior Data Engineer – GCP, BigQuery & SQL (Dubai)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Consultant to join a leading organisation in Dubai, working closely with internal data and marketing technology teams. The role is hands‑on and delivery‑focused, requiring strong expertise in Google BigQuery, complex SQL, ETL pipelines and data dependency analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Perform detailed impact analysis across data pipelines, tracing upstream and downstream dependencies.
• Develop, troubleshoot and optimise complex SQL queries in Google BigQuery.
• Analyse existing source‑system extraction, ETL/ELT flows and data architecture.
• Assess and implement schema migrations and data‑structure changes, managing their impact on dependent pipelines.
• Design and execute regression testing and data validation to ensure accuracy.
• Estimate remediation effort and create prioritised delivery plans.
• Collaborate with data, marketing technology and business teams to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation and use version control for code changes.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ownership of production data‑engineering work with concrete examples of pipeline architecture, complex SQL and dependency analysis.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and coordinate across business and technical stakeholders.
• Available to work onsite in Dubai five days per week for an initial 12‑month contract.
