Senior Data Governance & Security Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Data Governance & Security Specialist to lead the classification, protection and audit of our data assets. Based in Abu Dhabi, you will ensure data is accurately labelled and that our security controls meet client and regulatory expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Scan databases to identify sensitive information and apply appropriate security labels (Public, Confidential, Restricted).
• Configure and operate data classification tools such as Microsoft Purview, IDMC Data Governance, Informatica EDC, Informatica AXON, IBM Watson Knowledge Catalog, and BigID.
• Generate clear, client‑facing reports that demonstrate data classification and protection status.
• Serve as the primary technical contact during client audits and security reviews.
• Collaborate with IT and database teams to remediate mislabelled data and close security gaps.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science or a related field.
• 10–15 years of experience in data security, data governance, or IT auditing.
• Proven ability to communicate technical security concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Purview, IDMC Data Governance, Informatica EDC, Informatica AXON, IBM Watson Knowledge Catalog, or BigID.
• Strong SQL knowledge for data inspection.
• Familiarity with security audit frameworks and regulations such as UAE PDPL, ISO 27001, GDPR and SOC 2.
