Senior Embedded Software Engineer – Real‑time Engine Control

About the role

The Software Senior Engineer is responsible for the architecture, development, and validation of real‑time embedded software for engine control systems, including ECUs/FADECs used in gas turbine engines.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement real‑time embedded software for engine control units (ECUs), including bootloaders, task schedulers and control logic.
• Develop safety‑critical code in C/C++ following DO‑178C, MISRA and ISO 26262 standards.
• Integrate firmware with custom hardware (MCUs, FPGAs, sensors, actuators) and collaborate with hardware engineers.
• Create and run software‑in‑the‑loop and hardware‑in‑the‑loop tests using dSPACE, NI or Vector platforms.
• Produce requirements, design descriptions, traceability matrices, test plans and verification artifacts in line with DO‑178C and ARP4754A.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Computer or related engineering.
• 8+ years of embedded software development experience, preferably in aerospace, defence or safety‑critical automotive.
• Proven expertise with bare‑metal and RTOS‑based development on microcontrollers such as ARM Cortex‑M, TI C2000, Infineon Aurix.
• Strong understanding of control systems, signal processing and real‑time constraints.

Required skills

• MATLAB Simulink and Embedded Coder code generation.
• Communication protocols: CAN, SPI, I²C, UART, RS‑422, ARINC 429.
• Safety and standards: DO‑178C, MISRA, ISO 26262.
• Hardware‑in‑the‑loop tools: dSPACE, NI, Vector.
• Version control: Git, SVN.
• Programming languages: C, C++.
