Senior Hardware Design Engineer

About the role

EDGE is seeking a Senior Hardware Design Engineer to develop and deliver advanced Engine Control Unit (ECU) hardware for aerospace and defence applications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop hardware architectures for Engine Control Units (ECUs).
• Design analog, digital, and mixed‑signal control hardware circuits.
• Create DSP, MCU, and MPU‑based control boards.
• Design low‑power supply and voltage regulation circuits.
• Define and manage interfaces between system components, sensors, and actuators.
• Perform schematic design, PCB layout, simulation, analysis, and verification.
• Conduct low‑level, functional, and integration testing, and prepare technical test reports.
• Ensure designs meet EMC/EMI and environmental qualification requirements and support qualification testing.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in embedded and/or control hardware design.
• Strong knowledge of analog, digital, and mixed‑signal circuit design.
• Experience with DSP, MCU, and MPU‑based board design.
• Proficiency with schematic design and PCB layout tools such as Altium Designer or Mentor PADS.

• EMC/EMI‑aware hardware design practices.
• Knowledge of MIL‑STD‑461, MIL‑STD‑810, MIL‑STD‑704, RTCA/DO‑160 standards.
• Familiarity with RTCA/DO‑254 requirements traceability.
