Senior Java Software Engineer – Sharjah

About the role

DataFirst is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to join its on‑site team in Sharjah. You will design, develop, and maintain high‑performance Java applications that support a range of data‑driven solutions for government and commercial clients.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with developers, product managers and cross‑functional stakeholders to define and deliver new features.
• Coordinate with clients and service providers to clarify technical requirements.
• Design and implement scalable back‑end systems and well‑structured databases.
• Develop, document and maintain robust APIs.
• Apply security best practices, including JWT, OAuth2 and encryption mechanisms.
• Write clean, maintainable code following industry standards.
• Test software for functionality, performance and responsiveness.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve defects.
• Maintain clear technical documentation.
• Stay updated with emerging tools and technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong grasp of algorithms, data structures, OOP, design patterns, software architecture, database design and UML.
• Experience working in SOA and micro‑services environments.
