Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join a leading Abu Dhabi‑based energy business. This commercial, business‑facing position focuses on procurement, EPC and construction projects, oil & gas, and general commercial matters, offering significant autonomy and direct interaction with senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pragmatic, business‑focused legal advice on commercial contracts, procurement, EPC/construction and oil & gas projects.
• Work closely with senior management, delivering independent counsel and supporting strategic decision‑making.
• Manage stakeholder relationships across cultural and political contexts, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
• Oversee a diverse workload, maintaining high standards of legal compliance and risk mitigation.

Required profile

• Common Law qualified lawyer with 8‑10 years post‑qualification experience.
• Strong background in commercial contracts, procurement, EPC/construction, and/or oil & gas sectors.
• Excellent commercial judgement and ability to deliver pragmatic advice.
• Comfortable operating independently and engaging directly with senior management.
• Politically and culturally astute with strong stakeholder management skills.
• Based in the UAE/GCC or an exceptional international candidate.
• Low‑ego, collaborative, delivery‑focused attitude.
