Senior Legal Counsel (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt)

About the role

This senior legal counsel position supports a fast‑growing international technology business as it expands across the MENA region. The role balances the rapid pace of a scaling startup with the governance needs of a larger corporate environment, focusing on the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, customer agreements and NDAs.
• Advise on employment law and people‑related matters across international markets.
• Support market‑entry activities, including trade licences, local compliance and social security considerations.
• Provide guidance on regional legal and regulatory nuances in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
• Partner with commercial, HR, finance and operational teams on day‑to‑day legal matters.
• Manage external counsel and specialist advisers as required.
• Bridge the fast‑moving international team with US‑based legal stakeholders.
• Create proportionate legal processes that enable scaling without slowing the business.
• Mentor and support a junior legal team member.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with substantial in‑house experience.
• Strong commercial contract drafting, review and negotiation skills.
• Generalist background covering commercial, employment and compliance matters.
• Regional experience in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and/or Egypt.
• Experience supporting a startup, scale‑up or high‑growth business.
• Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity and balance competing priorities.
• Commercial judgement, pragmatism and confidence engaging non‑legal stakeholders.
• Arabic reading, writing and language skills.
