Senior Material Science Engineer

About the role

EDGE Group's ADVANCED CONCEPTS unit is seeking a Senior Material Science Engineer to lead material research and development for high‑technology missile systems. You will work in a fast‑paced, innovative environment focused on autonomous aerial platforms and precision munitions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive research to identify and qualify polymers, coatings, and other materials for missile components.
• Design, execute, and oversee material testing programs covering mechanical, thermal, and chemical performance.
• Perform failure analysis and root‑cause investigations, recommending design or material improvements.
• Provide technical leadership to junior engineers and drive a culture of innovation.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and aerodynamic teams to integrate materials into system designs.
• Maintain compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements throughout the material selection and production processes.
• Plan and manage laboratory operations to meet cost, specification, and performance targets.
• Deliver internal and external training on coating technologies and energy‑absorbing materials.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in polymer and coating technologies.
• At least 4 years in a senior engineering role within a large corporate environment.
• Master’s or PhD in Polymer Technology or a related field.
• Proven track record in research, development, and analytical testing of advanced materials.
