Senior Mechanical Commissioning Engineer

About the role

The Senior Mechanical Commissioning Engineer will lead and support commissioning activities for mechanical systems on oil and gas projects in Dubai. Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, the role combines hands‑on testing, troubleshooting and mentorship of junior engineers to ensure safe and efficient start‑up of plant equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Report to the Commissioning Manager and assist the Principal Commissioning Engineer with home‑office deliverables.
• Conduct walk‑down inspections, punch‑listing and testing of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation components on site.
• Collaborate with the project team and client to maintain positive relationships and coordinate commissioning activities.
• Develop and maintain manuals, spares, first‑fills, consumables and start‑up procedures.
• Perform equipment system checks, functional testing and performance testing of mechanical, electrical and instrument systems.
• Resolve operational and maintenance issues during commissioning, start‑up and performance tests.
• Supervise craft personnel for pre‑commissioning and commissioning tasks.
• Coordinate activities with other engineers, discipline leads and construction/fabrication teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.
• 8‑15 years of experience in oil and gas projects with a major contractor or consultant.
• Strong understanding of commissioning, completions and start‑up concepts, principles and practices.
