Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Switchgear (Dubai)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to develop customized switchgear and fabricated products for Vertiv in Dubai. The role involves creating manufacturing drawings, 3D models, and ensuring engineering documentation is delivered on time in a fast‑paced ETO/MTO environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings and engineering documentation based on project specifications and tender requirements.
• Develop 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Conduct design reviews following established Design Control Plans.
• Coordinate with Design and Project Managers to resolve technical discrepancies and maintain drawing accuracy.
• Track and communicate Bill of Materials changes to stakeholders.
• Ensure all project deliverables meet scheduled timelines and HSE/quality standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering process.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of design engineering experience, preferably in switchgear, ETO/MTO or custom fabrication.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design, sheet‑metal fabrication, structural components and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and organizational skills.
