Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) you will join Dubizzle's high‑performing cross‑functional squads, helping to scale the platform that serves millions of users across the UAE and beyond. You will quickly become familiar with the existing codebase and technology stack, and you will play a key role in shaping the technical direction of your product stream.

Key responsibilities

• Gather deep knowledge of the dubizzle codebase and architecture within the first weeks.
• Lead planning sessions for new features and define roll‑out and roll‑back strategies.
• Research and apply industry trends to improve reliability and performance.
• Write unit tests, maintain high‑quality code, and conduct thorough code reviews.
• Design, develop, and maintain REST‑based APIs within a Service‑Oriented Architecture.
• Mentor peers, participate in pair‑programming, and guide complex tasks.
• Collaborate with QA, design, and other engineering teams to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field (preferred).
• 6+ years of professional backend development experience, primarily with Python and Django.
• Proven experience building high‑traffic, large‑scale web products.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and containerisation (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, SOA, performance analysis, and search infrastructure.
