Senior Software Engineer - Java FullStack - Platform Services

About the role

Senior Software Engineer – Java Full‑Stack – Platform Services is a key member of an agile feature team at Emirates Group IT, responsible for designing, developing, implementing and maintaining software solutions that support the Emirates Group business.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior technical engineers to analyse application requirements and contribute to technical design.
• Convert technical solutions for small‑ to medium‑sized initiatives into low‑level design and production‑ready code.
• Write secure, optimized code following Emirates Group coding standards and ensure 100% unit test coverage within the CI/CD pipeline.
• Participate in rotational on‑call support, resolve production issues within SLAs and analyse/fix defects with minimal rework.
• Implement logging, monitoring hooks and adopt refactoring practices to minimise code debt.

Required profile

• Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Java full‑stack development.
• Experience providing production support using the ITIL framework.
• Familiarity with contemporary engineering practices such as lean software, test‑driven development and CI/CD.

Required skills

• Java 8+, Spring, Spring Boot, RESTful API, SOAP, Microservices, Design Patterns, API‑First approach.
• Front‑end: React.js, Angular.js.
• Databases: Oracle, MariaDB, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Couchbase, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, GraphQL.
• Cloud: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud.
• DevOps: GitLab, Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Splunk, JIRA, Confluence, Spinnaker.
• Build & quality: Maven, Gradle, SonarQube, CI/CD, Test‑Driven Development, ITIL.
