Sonographer – Ultrasound Imaging Specialist

About the role

The Sonographer will independently or under supervision perform all ultrasound imaging procedures, analyse the output for diagnostic evaluation and report findings as required. The role follows hospital protocols, professional standards and ensures high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform all sonography imaging procedures in accordance with departmental protocols, producing high‑quality diagnostic images.
• Evaluate image quality, ensure completeness, and forward images to radiologists for interpretation.
• Maintain and operate ultrasound equipment, including Doppler and advanced software, and record images in the hospital PACS.
• Manage inventory of supplies, report shortages, and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Participate in quality and safety programs, infection control, and occupational health procedures.

Required profile

• BSc in Radiography or accredited diploma; current national license and ARDMS certification.
• Minimum two years post‑graduate experience in ultrasound within an acute‑care hospital, covering Doppler, obstetric/gynecologic and abdominal studies.
• Fluent in spoken and written English; Arabic advantageous.
• Self‑motivated, able to work under pressure, with strong time‑management and patient‑care orientation.

Required skills

• Ultrasound imaging (including Doppler, obstetric/gynecologic, abdominal).
• Operation of advanced ultrasound equipment and software.
• Use of PACS and Hospital Information System for image storage and reporting.
• Inventory management of sonography supplies and equipment.
