Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher – Cycle 3

About the role

The Al Danah branch of International Community Schools is looking for an inspirational Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher for Cycle 3 (secondary – IGCSE & A‑Levels). The role involves identifying, assessing and supporting students with diverse learning needs so they can succeed within the British curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Identify pupils requiring SEN support using a range of assessment tools and collaborate with parents, teachers and external specialists.
• Develop, implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) aligned with the National Curriculum for England, IGCSE and A‑Level expectations.
• Deliver differentiated instruction and targeted interventions both in‑class and through withdrawal sessions.
• Work closely with subject teachers to adapt the British curriculum and provide necessary accommodations.
• Prepare and manage exam access arrangements for IGCSE and A‑Level examinations in line with JCQ guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, interventions and communications.
• Contribute to the school’s safeguarding and welfare policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
• PGCE, B.Ed with QTS or equivalent British‑trained teaching qualification.
• Specialist qualification in SEN (e.g., NASENCO Award, Masters in Special Education).
• Minimum three years of full‑time experience as a qualified SEN teacher or coordinator in a British‑curriculum school.
• Proven experience working with Cycle 3 students with dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, ASD or similar needs.
