Sr HSE Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a senior HSE Engineer to lead health, safety and environmental compliance on our Abu Dhabi project. The role involves translating regulations into practical on‑site actions, managing risk and fostering a proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the project follows the HSE Management System, policies, procedures and legal requirements, aligned with ISO standards and client frameworks.
• Review and approve HSE plans, risk assessments, method statements and emergency procedures submitted by contractors before work commences.
• Conduct daily and weekly site inspections, identify hazards and verify corrective actions.
• Provide direction to HSE contractors and enforce safety requirements.
• Deliver induction, toolbox talks and specialized safety training.
• Lead investigations of incidents, near‑misses and unsafe conditions, determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Develop, test and evaluate emergency response plans and coordinate drills.
• Compile and submit monthly HSE performance reports and compliance updates to client and project management.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors and internal teams to ensure legal compliance and effective communication on HSE matters.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of HSE experience in construction or related sectors.
• Strong knowledge of local regulations and ISO HSE standards.
• Proven ability to manage contractor HSE performance and conduct audits.
• Excellent analytical and investigative skills.
