Subject Coordinator – English Department

About the role

The Subject Coordinator for the English Department provides instructional leadership on campus, guiding teachers and overseeing curriculum delivery. Reporting to the Campus Director or designee, the coordinator ensures high‑quality English instruction aligned with ENS standards and supports professional growth across the department.

Key responsibilities

• Coach, supervise, and evaluate English teachers, fostering continuous improvement.
• Design and deliver professional development aligned with ENS guidelines.
• Select, implement, and manage instructional resources and teaching strategies.
• Develop, administer, and analyze standards‑based student assessments.
• Identify and coordinate professional development for teachers and administrators.
• Assist in the recruitment and selection of English faculty.
• Evaluate and refine content programs to meet ENS curriculum requirements.
• Collaborate with curriculum heads, IB coordinators, and school leadership on curriculum initiatives.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or higher) with a bachelor’s degree in a related content area.
• Master’s may be in Content Area, Curriculum Development, Instruction, or Research.
• Minimum five years of teaching experience in English Language Arts or related subjects.
• Demonstrated experience with standards‑based teaching approaches and familiarity with Common Core, NGSS, or UAE National Curriculum standards.
• Experience navigating accreditation processes (MOE, ADEK, KHDA, AdvancED, IBO, ECIS).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and cloud‑based collaboration tools.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills (IELTS 6.5+).
• Proven track record of leading change and improvement within academic departments.
