Tax Senior Officer

About the role

The University of Sharjah is seeking a Tax Senior Officer to support its UAE tax compliance framework, focusing on VAT and e‑Invoicing. The role is part of the Finance Department and reports to the Senior Tax Specialist.

Key responsibilities

• Support preparation and timely filing of UAE VAT returns, including data preparation, reconciliations and documentation.
• Maintain detailed VAT schedules and perform monthly reconciliations between return data, source records and general ledger, investigating discrepancies.
• Provide operational support for UAE e‑Invoicing implementation, covering master‑data validation, tax‑code mapping and system testing.
• Assist with Federal Tax Authority audits, VAT refund claims and queries by preparing schedules and supporting documents.
• Coordinate with IT and ERP teams to maintain tax‑code matrices and enhance tax reporting within Oracle Fusion.

Required profile

• Excellent oral and written communication in Arabic and English.
• Strong understanding of UAE VAT law, FTA compliance procedures, reverse charge mechanism, residual input recovery and e‑Invoicing mandates.
• Ability to work independently and provide effective support to the Senior Tax Specialist.

Required skills

• Advanced MS Excel.
• Practical ERP knowledge, preferably Oracle Fusion.
• Experience with UAE e‑Invoicing, tax engine configurations and ASP integrations.
• Knowledge of Peppol/PINT‑AE, UBL/XML e‑Invoice and credit‑note structures.
