Teaching Assistant & Bus Supervisor

About the role

The Teaching Assistant & Bus Supervisor provides essential support to teachers and students inside the classroom and ensures safe transport of pupils on school buses. This dual role combines classroom assistance with bus supervision, contributing to a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers with lesson planning, preparation of materials, and classroom management.
• Support individual students and small groups during learning activities.
• Read stories, supervise cloakroom, playtime, and transition periods.
• Prepare and maintain ICT equipment such as computers, iPads, digital cameras, DVDs, and Bee‑Bot devices.
• Comfort distressed or vulnerable children in line with safeguarding procedures.
• Transport children to and from school, manage boarding and alighting, and enforce safety and discipline on the bus.
• Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and maintain vehicle logs.
• Implement emergency plans, administer first aid when needed, and report incidents to the teacher or Head of Early Years.

Required profile

• Patient, caring attitude with a commitment to child safeguarding.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and report incidents promptly.
• Strong organisational skills for managing classroom resources and bus documentation.
• Willingness to work flexible hours covering school and transport schedules.

Required skills

• Operation of basic ICT equipment (computers, iPad, digital camera, Bee‑Bot).
• Preparation of teaching materials, art & craft supplies, and classroom resources.
• Ability to laminate, photocopy, label, and store equipment appropriately.
