Teaching & Bus Assistant

About the role

The Teaching & Bus Assistant supports classroom activities and ensures safe transport of students. This hybrid role combines educational support with bus duties, contributing to the wellbeing and learning experience of children at Aspen Heights British School.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers with lesson planning, material preparation, and assessment processes.
• Lead and support groups of children during classroom tasks, story time, and art & craft activities.
• Prepare and manage ICT equipment such as computers, iPads, digital cameras, DVDs and Bee‑Bot robots.
• Accompany children on outings, supervise cloakroom, playtimes and transition periods, and ensure safety in the bathroom and playground.
• Provide first‑aid, conduct pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections, and follow emergency procedures on the bus.
• Take daily attendance, secure seat‑belts, monitor student behaviour on the bus and intervene in bullying incidents.
• Report safeguarding concerns, incidents and delays to the teacher or Head of Early Years in line with school policy.

Required profile

• Minimum diploma or equivalent with at least two years of school experience as a bus or teaching assistant.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English and a collaborative, professional attitude.
• Commitment to safeguarding, child welfare and behaviour management.
• Willingness to work as part of the school team and uphold the school’s reputation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ICT equipment (computers, iPad, digital camera, DVD, Bee‑Bot).
• First‑aid certification and ability to implement emergency plans.
• Vehicle safety inspection and documentation skills.
