Pastoral Assistant – Student Well‑Being Support

About the role

The Pastoral Assistant will provide day‑to‑day well‑being and emotional support to students at Aspen Heights British School. This role focuses on fostering a safe, inclusive environment and helping students navigate academic, social and personal challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Offer pastoral guidance, monitor attendance and support students during mental‑health, bullying or family‑related issues, referring to counsellors when needed.
• Promote positive behaviour, assist teachers with behaviour‑management plans and help maintain a respectful school culture.
• Mentor students, facilitate goal‑setting, resilience building and coordinate peer‑support or mentoring programmes.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student welfare, behaviour and progress, and collaborate with teaching and pastoral staff.
• Plan and deliver pastoral programmes, workshops and extracurricular activities that enhance student wellbeing and citizenship.
• Identify safeguarding concerns, report to the Designated Safeguarding Lead and keep up‑to‑date with child‑protection training.

Required profile

• Minimum high school diploma (or equivalent); a degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology or related field is highly preferred.
• Previous experience working with young people in an educational or pastoral setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills, effective written and verbal communication, and a high level of IT competency.
