Teller

About the role

The Teller is responsible for processing cash and cheque transactions, deposits, withdrawals and remote money transfer (RMT) operations at a branch. The role ensures cash balances are accurate, complies with central bank and anti‑money‑laundering regulations, and supports the branch in delivering high‑quality customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Process cash, cheque, deposit, withdrawal and RMT transactions in line with operating procedures.
• Balance till cash daily, maintaining zero shortages or overages.
• Act as joint custodian of till cash with the Branch Operations Manager and Head Teller, ensuring dual‑custody requirements.
• Apply central bank guidelines and AML due‑diligence to all transactions.
• Identify and propose improvements to work processes, customer service and operational efficiency.
• Perform branch administrative tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
• Maintain awareness of the branch Business Continuity Plan and undertake required training.
• Serve as Branch Operations Representative/Head Teller when required.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling.
• Good understanding of banking regulations and AML requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively with branch managers and other departments.
• Commitment to maintaining the bank’s reputation through excellent customer service.
• Willingness to engage in continuous learning and process improvement.
