Traffic Management Specialist

About the role

The Traffic Management Specialist coordinates the shipment of Global Prepositioned Material Services (GPMS) cargo to worldwide destinations using air, land, and sea modes. The role ensures full compliance with international, federal, and Department of Defense transportation regulations while maintaining in‑transit visibility across the Defense Transportation System.

Key responsibilities

• Arrange and monitor outbound/inbound cargo shipments, selecting the most efficient mode and managing transportation funds.
• Inspect and accept documentation (DD Form 1149/1348‑1), verify nomenclatures, quantities, Transportation Control Numbers, and hazardous material certifications.
• Prepare shipping documents, assign TCNs, produce labels, issue manifests, and maintain manifest logs.
• Use automated systems (CMOS, GATES, IBS, etc.) to input and track transportation data.
• Inspect hazardous materials for proper packaging, marking, labeling, and documentation per AFMAN 24‑604, CFR, IATA, and IMDG regulations.
• Ensure all shipments comply with ITAR, Performance Work Statement (PWS), and ISO 9001 QMS.

Required profile

• Ability to access and operate a wide range of logistics and tracking tools.
• Completion of mandatory training courses (AMMO‑43, AMMO‑62, WPM certification, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of international trade, arms regulations, and hazardous‑materials handling.
• Attention to detail for documentation accuracy and regulatory compliance.
