Tunnel TBM Operation Inspector

About the role

Parsons is seeking a Tunnel TBM Operation Inspector to support the Resident Engineer in supervising tunnel construction activities in Dubai. The role focuses on monitoring TBM operations, tunnel lining, and segment repair to ensure compliance with approved methods, specifications, and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Resident Engineer in supervising TBM operations, tunnel lining, and segment repair.
• Monitor TBM parameters such as face pressure, advance rate, torque, thrust, cutterhead rpm, and grout pressures against drive instruction sheets.
• Inspect and verify annular gap/backfill grouting, ring installation, gasket condition, and segment positioning.
• Identify abnormal conditions, ground settlement, water ingress, or other risks and report them promptly.
• Coordinate daily shift reports, TBM data, and technical guidance with the TBM operation team and contractors.
• Review method statements, material submittals, test plans, and provide technical comments to the Resident Engineer.
• Ensure all tunnel construction activities comply with HSE, QA/QC, and contract specifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of construction supervision experience, including at least 4 years on large‑diameter TBM projects.
• Experience completing a TBM tunnel project from start to finish.
• Strong knowledge of TBM operation sequences and QA/QC procedures.

Required skills

• TBM operation monitoring and parameter control.
• Quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) including inspection test plans (ITPs) and material testing.
• Interpretation of shop drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Computer software for reporting and record‑keeping.
• English written and verbal communication.
