University Doctor - General Practitioner

About the role

The American University in the Emirates is seeking a qualified General Practitioner to serve as the University Doctor. The role involves delivering primary medical care, emergency response, and health promotion for students, faculty, and staff within the campus clinic.

Key responsibilities

• Provide in‑house emergency care, first aid, and routine medical consultations.
• Diagnose illnesses, prescribe treatments, and refer patients to specialists when needed.
• Act as the primary medical responder during campus emergencies and coordinate with external emergency services.
• Conduct health screenings, vaccinations, and health‑education workshops.
• Support the Health & Safety team with orientation, onboarding, and safety reporting.
• Maintain accurate, confidential medical records and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Manage employee clinical insurance policies and guide staff to appropriate healthcare facilities.

Required profile

• Medical degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid DHA eligibility letter.
• Minimum 2 years experience in an educational institution.
• Strong ability to work under pressure and make independent clinical judgments.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of multitasking.
• Professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Excellent knowledge of health care and health promotion.
• Proficiency with computer applications for medical record keeping.
