Upper Elementary Teacher – Grade 5

About the role

GEMS Dubai American Academy is seeking an enthusiastic Upper Elementary Teacher for Grade 5 to join its vibrant, American‑curriculum community in Dubai. The successful candidate will deliver a balanced, inquiry‑based programme that develops core academic skills while fostering curiosity and joy in learning.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons across the core subjects for a Grade 5 homeroom, aligned with the American curriculum.
• Implement the Teachers College Reading and Writing Workshop to strengthen literacy.
• Integrate purposeful educational technology to support differentiated instruction.
• Assess student progress, provide timely feedback, and adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and school leadership to create a supportive learning environment.

Required profile

• Degree‑level teaching qualification (PGCE, PGDE, BEd or equivalent) specialising in elementary education.
• Minimum two years of experience teaching elementary homeroom classes within an American‑curriculum school.
• Commitment to high expectations, student‑centred inquiry and continuous professional growth.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of inquiry‑based, process‑driven learning.
• Familiarity with the Teachers College Reading and Writing Workshop methodology.
• Ability to use embedded educational technology effectively.
