Welding Engineer

About the role

The Welding Engineer will apply technical knowledge of welding to develop and qualify welding procedures for complex projects. Working under moderate guidance, the role focuses on solving straightforward welding challenges while ensuring compliance with codes and client specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop project welding procedures (WPS) and qualification records (PQR) that meet design, engineering, and construction codes.
• Maintain the welder qualification program, review drawings, select consumables, and estimate material quantities.
• Supervise on‑site PQR execution, witness laboratory tests, and approve qualification documentation.
• Collaborate with customers, production supervisors, and metallurgical labs to resolve welding and metallurgical issues.
• Assist in the development of automatic welding systems and new methodologies.

Required profile

• 4‑year B.S. degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in welding/metallurgy within fabrication and construction.
• Knowledge of welding technology, NDT techniques, and inspection qualification is preferred.
