2nd WK Electrical Engineer

About the role

The 2nd WK Electrical Engineer will play a vital role in maintaining and optimizing the electrical systems onboard our dredger. Working closely with the 1st WK Electrical Engineer and the crew, you will ensure reliable operation, safety, and efficiency of all electrical equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the 1st WK Electrical Engineer in daily operations and maintenance of onboard electrical systems.
• Perform routine inspections and tests to identify potential issues and ensure equipment reliability.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical faults, implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of system performance and repairs, complying with industry standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate electrical systems with onboard equipment and processes.
• Monitor and optimize energy consumption, applying energy‑efficient practices.
• Train and supervise junior electrical engineers or technicians.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical engineering and incorporate innovative solutions.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and promote a safe working environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in the marine or dredging industry.
• Strong knowledge of power generation, distribution, and control systems.
• Familiarity with IEC and NEC standards and relevant industry regulations.
• Valid certifications or licenses such as a Professional Engineer (PE) license are preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electrical testing and diagnostic equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes).
• Ability to analyze and resolve electrical faults under pressure.
• Experience monitoring and optimizing energy consumption.
