Academic Coach – Student Success and Disability Support

About the role

The Academic Coach works within the Academic Support Center (ASC) to provide one‑on‑one and group coaching for students at risk, those on probation, reinstated students, undeclared majors, and students requiring disability accommodations. The role collaborates closely with the ASC Director and team to enhance student academic success.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize coaching techniques such as motivational interviewing to advise students and respond to inquiries from students, parents, and faculty.
• Maintain accurate student records, notes, and statistics while staying current on AUS academic policies, curriculum, and advising procedures.
• Develop learning contracts, track academic progress, generate success reports, and lead workshops on study strategies, time management, and well‑being.
• Coordinate and document academic accommodations for students with disabilities, creating personalized contracts and communicating with faculty to ensure implementation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or a related field.
• Experience in academic coaching, advising, or disability services, preferably in a multicultural environment.
• Strong organizational, time‑management, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a team player and learn AUS policies and procedures.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using database management, electronic scheduling, and record‑keeping software.
