Regular or Visiting Faculty – Mechanical Engineering (Fall 2027)

About the role

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the American University of Sharjah seeks a regular or visiting faculty member to start in the Fall semester of 2027. The regular appointment is a permanent position focused on establishing a high‑level research program, while the visiting role is a one‑year renewable contract primarily dedicated to teaching.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineering and related interdisciplinary programs.
• For regular faculty, design and lead an active research agenda supported by internal and external funding.

Required profile

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated record of teaching excellence and, for regular faculty, evidence of research productivity.
• Experience with the American model of higher education is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Expertise in one of the three mechanical engineering research areas: thermo‑fluids design, materials and manufacturing, dynamics and control.
• Ability to prepare teaching, research, and course‑offering statements and to provide references.
