Account Director - Government & Public Affairs

About the role

The role sits within Burson’s Government, Public Affairs & Sustainability communications team, supporting public‑sector institutions, policymakers and regulators across the MENA region. It focuses on shaping narratives around public policy, sustainability, ESG and responsible innovation, helping clients communicate complex priorities that affect citizens, industry and the wider economy.

Key responsibilities

• Manage high‑profile, often sensitive communications programmes at the intersection of government, sustainability, regulation and emerging technologies.
• Develop and execute public affairs and ESG communication strategies for clients.
• Craft compelling narratives for policymakers, regulators and other key stakeholders.
• Coordinate stakeholder communications and media relations to amplify client messages.
• Provide strategic counsel on issues management and content strategy.

Required profile

• Proven experience in public‑sector, government or public affairs communications.
• Strong understanding of ESG, sustainability and regulatory environments.
• Ability to handle sensitive, high‑visibility projects with strategic insight.
• Excellent narrative‑building and strategic thinking skills.
