Accountant I – Accounts Payable (Insurance)

About the role

The Accountant I will manage end‑to‑end accounts payable operations within an insurance environment in Dubai. The role ensures accurate, compliant and timely processing of claims payments, broker commissions, reinsurance settlements and vendor invoices.

Key responsibilities

• Process claims‑related payments (garages, hospitals, policyholders) in coordination with Claims and Medical teams.
• Validate and execute broker commission payments, ensuring alignment with commission statements and agreements.
• Manage reinsurance payables, including treaty and facultative settlements, according to contractual terms.
• Handle premium refunds, securing proper approvals and documentation.
• Review, verify and record vendor invoices, ensuring supporting documentation and approvals before posting.
• Execute payments via bank transfers, cheques or approved methods and maintain vendor master data.
• Ensure VAT compliance, validate input VAT and support regulatory reporting.
• Support internal controls, audit requirements and reconciliation of payables and vendor balances.
• Assist in preparing periodic payables and commission reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• 2‑5 years of Accounts Payable experience, preferably in insurance or financial services.
• Hands‑on experience with insurance‑specific payments such as claims, reinsurance and commissions.
