Accountant - Minerals & Commodities Trade

About the role

An experienced Senior Accountant / General Accountant is sought in Business Bay, Dubai, to independently manage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate financial reporting in line with UAE regulations and accounting standards. Candidates with experience in trading businesses dealing in minerals, chemicals, commodities or similar industries are highly preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting, bookkeeping, AP/AR and invoicing
• Handle bank reconciliations and supplier/customer statement-of-account reconciliations
• Manage VAT accounting, payment follow-ups and expense monitoring
• Handle month-end closing, financial reporting and audit support
• Apply IFRS principles and manage accounting adjustments, including bad debt provisions/write-offs, depreciation and other journal entries
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of relevant accounting experience in the UAE
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or equivalent
• Good English communication and documentation skills
• Ability to independently manage accounting operations

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IFRS, VAT, AP/AR, reconciliations and month-end closing
• Hands-on experience with bad debt adjustments, depreciation and financial reporting
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting software
