Accountant - Oil & Gas

About the role

A client in Abu Dhabi is looking for an Accountant for its oil and gas business. The role covers day-to-day accounting, receivables and payables, cash flow support and compliance with UAE tax regulations, and backs up trading, procurement, supply and service activities with timely financial information.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records, prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepayments and adjustments, and keep the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and fixed asset registers
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and assist with month-end and year-end closing
• Process supplier invoices, verify them against purchase orders and delivery notes, and follow up on overdue receivables
• Record oil and gas trading transactions, track costs and revenues, and monitor project-wise profitability
• Assist with VAT returns, tax invoice verification and corporate tax compliance
• Prepare monthly financial reports and monitor cash balances and bank transactions

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience; oil and gas, trading, procurement or industrial supply experience preferred
• ACCA, CMA, CPA or equivalent qualification is an advantage
